Meet Q. King
Before I share my story, I want to give thanks—without God, none of this would be possible. Thank you, Elohim, my Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.
My barbering journey began at the age of 11, back in sixth grade. What started as a necessity soon grew into a passion. Since my mother couldn’t always afford weekly haircuts, I began experimenting on my own hair every couple of weeks. That small beginning sparked a lifelong craft.
I’ve been cutting hair for about 28 years, with my professional shop experience starting in 2010. Along the way, I was inspired by early influencers such as Larry Coleman, David Threatt, Henry “Duece” Tally, and Sergio the Barber—well-known veterans in our city who paved the way.
Today, I am a licensed barber at Thundercat Barbershop and a student at The Hair Cafe Barber & Cosmetology College, working toward my master barbering license and instructor’s license. My goal is not only to perfect my own craft but also to teach and inspire the next generation of barbers and cosmetologists.
Looking ahead, I plan to open a barbershop of my own while continuing to build my career and invest in the future of this profession.
